Great show and enjoy your view points.

While I never thought of it this way but history is the ultimate fluff.

One point I would enjoy hearing expanded upon is the different views within a battle. Max Hastings book on Overlord is a good start as we notonly have British, Americans, Canadians and Germans fighting but also sizable eastern troops fighting for the Germans, with many latter incorporated into British Polish units.

A German unit of Ost troops would have conflicting goals, the private’s want to survive and maybe captured, while officers and NCOs may want to win. I think it makes an interesting game.

All the best
Jon
Jon Yuenglinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18140492307166591621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4167684119478977136.post-33545510614925387322018-09-23T20:22:52.082+01:002018-09-23T20:22:52.082+01:00Sorry to hear you won't be contributing to Mee...Sorry to hear you won't be contributing to Meeples and Miniatures in the future Mike. I enjoyed listening to you on your own podcast however and am looking forward to the next one. The solo format is an refreshing change. However I did enjoy your contribution to the banter on M&M - I wonder whether you might be able to have the occasional guest on Trouble At T'Mill. For non- or ahistorical games, I find that well developed fluff only limits the stories you can explore with a game. For SF in particular, I am ok with broad strokes but find the down in the weeds detail just gets in the way. For example, Traveller vs 40k.

I thoroughly agree that History is the best fluff of all. Dig deep enough and you will find the odd, the bizarre and the interesting that out strips anything you can find in mere fiction.

PatGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00379668269395518541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4167684119478977136.post-44433340386971853102018-09-13T04:17:16.497+01:002018-09-13T04:17:16.497+01:00Thanks Mr Whitaker, I enjoyed listening to the pod...Thanks Mr Whitaker, I enjoyed listening to the podcast & look forward to more in the future :-)Jacksarge Paintinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09859137774361915594noreply@blogger.com
